NON-DESTRUCTIVE INVESTIGATION WORKS

Often used where there may be no structural drawings available for a building where significant changes to the structure are proposed. This may be an increase in design load due to change of use, demolition of parts of the structure or new additions to the structure.

We use, among other things, the latest radar technology to ascertain the content of the structure in terms of reinforcing and/or post tensioning.

In conjunction with a detailed dimensional survey, we can produce retrospective ‘as-built’ drawings and 3D models using the latest modeling software, allowing easy visualisation and access to the structural information.

Slab Scan can also carry out non-destructive testing to ascertain the quality of in-situ concrete using techniques such as Half Cell Potential and impact echo tests. These, in conjunction with other suitable techniques, allow us to provide comprehensive reporting on potential issues with existing buildings.

DESTRUCTIVE INVESTIGATION WORKS

Destructive investigations, used in conjunction with non-destructive methods, can offer a more comprehensive approach allowing exposing of reinforcing in key locations to physically measure diameter and cover. Post-tensioning tendons can be cut open to confirm the number and diameter of strands.
